Arturo Tallini is a borderline classical guitarist: in more than 30 years of career, he became a reference point for contemporary music, with many pieces written for him. After a eventful performance of Serenata per un satellite by B. Maderna, in Milan (2006) he began practising free improvisation, (besides written music) also on Midi Guitar, creating his own language, based on contemporary music gestures and style: the improvisation is here intended as expression of self, coming from the remembrance of contemporary music that he has played in these 30 years.

He has the Guitar Chair in Santa Cecilia Conservatory (Rome); won several prizes in national and international competitions: we have to mention the First Prize in the Alessandria Guitar Competition (1987) and Third Prize in the Radio France Guitar Competition (1989)

He has performed in Festivals and Concert series all over the Europe and in U.S.A., Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia.

Many composers wrote for him, like M.Bortolotti, F. Razzi, A. Di Scipio, S. Tallini, I. Vescovo, F. Casti, M. Cardi, P.Esposito, D. Nicolau, F. Cavallone, L. Cinque, G.V.Cresta, M. Coen, M. Dall’Ongaro, O.J. Garcia, A. Amoroso, G. Boselli, M. Pisati, T. Marco.

Arturo Tallini recorded several cd’s:

*

BLU the last one, containing the spectacular Ko-Tha by Giacinto Scelsi, for guitar handled like a percussion instrument, Nocturnal by B. Britten, Nunc and Suoni Notturni by G. Petrassi, Due Canzoni Lidie by N. D’angelo and pices written in this occasion by M. Dall’Ongaro, G.V. Cresta and D. Nicolau
*
*

Castelnuovo-Tedesco Guitar Chamber Works with all the chamber music repertoire of Italian composer: Romancero Gitano, Quintet, Fantasia for guitar and piano, Ecloghe for Flute, English Horn, Sonatina for flute and guitar
*

*

Zorongo, a cd that is a homage to Garcia-Lorca, with the singer Ada Montellanico.
*
*

Several cd’s for three guitars with most of the three guitar repertoire that he practiced for many years
*

Several participations in chamber music cd’s with other musicians

His interpretations have been broadcasted by RAI (Italian Radio and Television), by several European national radio companies (Yugoslav Radio, Radio France, Tunisian Radio), American radio WQED-FM at Pittsburg (Pennsylvany) and by Vatican Radio.

Besides Santa Cecilia Conservatory, he often teaches in masterclasses in Italian conservatories and abroad in universities, courses, summer courses.

His more recent programme proposal, is a concert with pieces that implies improvisation (Stockhausen , Maderna, Brouwer and others), and, together, Bach Ciaccona that is the true monument to improvisation in all times.

He was part of Jury at International Competitions Alessandria (1997), Camogli (2004), Mottola (2010, Sevilla (2010); more in national competitions of Abbiategrasso (MI), Mirabello (2008), Carulli (Rome, 2010). He cooperates with International Fundacion Guerrero Madrid competition.

He is artistic Director of International Guitar Festival Città di Monterotondo – Rome; more he is co-ordinator of GuitFest International Guitar Festival in Santa Cecilia Conservatory – Rome.

He has written all guitar studio lineups for Santa Cecilia Conservatory, pointing the attention upon the contemporary music studio since the initial years and favouring the interaction between guitar and composition classrooms.
