Pianist, Dustin Gledhill, holds over twenty first-prize awards in national and international competitions. Dustin’s career has taken him throughout Europe, Russia, and North America, with top prizes in such competitions as the New Orleans International Piano Competition, the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, the Junior Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, the California International Young Artists Competition and many others.
Dustin’s London debut and CD recording, Live at Wigmore Hall - 2006, was sponsored by Jaques Samuel Pianos of London. Featured for this performance in London’s Musical Opinion Magazine, “…thoughtful yet passionate, finely nuanced but exciting… Nobody has all the answers to a masterpiece yet Gledhill got very close…” Music OMH also reviewed his performance “…riveting performance of Handel… simply stunning”. Dustin returns to Wigmore Hall October 9, 2010, where he will perform the world premier of a work by the awarding winning American composer, Matthew Barnson, commissioned solely for Mr. Gledhill. Other important venues include, the Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy, and Carnegie Hall, Weill, in New York.
Dustin has soloed with many orchestras, including the San Diego Symphony, Utah Symphony, Florida Space Coast Philharmonic, Louisiana Philharmonic, Hilton Head Orchestra, and many others. Dustin has appeared on several live televised broadcasts for non-profit organizations such as The Arthritis Foundation in Palm Springs, raising donations in the thousands. Dustin has also been frequently requested in Beverly Hills, California, for events hosted by Angela Lansbury at the home of the late television giant, Aaron Spelling, and fund raising galas honoring HRH, Prince Charles of Wales.
Dustin is an international prize-winner for the interpretation of French music, and continues to pursue this genre from early to modern composers. He recently recorded Livre II of Debussy’s 12 Etudes in a live performance. “Wigmore Hall audience was given a master class in pianistic textures and timbres… superb delicacy… a captivation level of excitement and virtuosity.” Said MusicOMH of the Debussy. Dustin also won the Debussy-Ravel Prize at the 2005 New Orleans International Piano Competition, and returned to rave reviews from The Times-Picayune for his interpretation of Saint-Saëns. “…spun an incantatory gold-medal performance…”
His many scholarships include: The Royal Academy of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and many other grants and scholarship awards. Dustin has studied with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox, Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and currently with Nina Svetlanova at Manhattan School of Music. Dustin currently pursues chamber music with flutist, Yoobin Son, under the direction of André-Michel Schub. He has received instruction and master-class training from Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Stephen Hough, Nikolai Demidenko, Bernard d’Ascoli, Leslie Howard, and others.
Dustin is also a keen collaborator with ballet and modern dance. He appeared on stage at Saddler’s Wells Dance Theater in London, with legendary choreographer and dancer, Pina Bausch and Company, in Palermo Palermo. In 2009, Dustin was featured as pianist and recording artist for the world premier of AfterLight, produced and performed by the Russell Maliphant Company. London’s BBC will premier the work in December 2009.
A published songwriter and arranger, Dustin is also founder of the Gledhill Piano Studio based in Manhattan, which teaches balance for the competitive pianist through music, mind, and body.
