The artistic duo that is Neon Circus consists of two writer/producers from Leicester. We create a sound of alternative –indie/electronica that has grown from a diverse range of influences covering a variety of popular artists from the likes of Ian Brown to LCD Sound System, to more alternative artists such as DJ Shadow and Aim. Our style evolved from an ethos of striving to create music that is new and relevant, and like any artist, to build on influences to create something powerful and original.

Already mutual friends, we became genuine music allies during late 2000 with little more than a guitar and a home PC in a bedroom. Committed to learning the tools of the trade, we spent much time familiarising ourselves with the software required to record and produce music, experimenting with new electronic sounds and synthesisers. We eventually got enough money together to buy a £3000 studio and moved into the attic of a garage in 2003, providing an ideal environment to create music, where we have worked ever since. Shortly after we formed a six piece band, which added a new rocky twist to the ambient, leftfield electronica we had been writing previously. The band performed in many cities across the country including Bimingham (Barfly), Coventry, Leicester, Manchester and London, as well as local radio shows. We received positive feedback from local press and built up a loyal fan base. During 2006 the band decided to go its separate ways, however we felt we had a lot more to offer and continued to diversify our sound as a duo, with the target of writing and releasing our own album.

To date we have completed an album, created our own artwork, set up a record label (Jacket Pocket Records), and begun the task of promotion and booking live dates for performances. We also aim to produce our own unique promotional material including animated music videos, graphic CD covers and posters. Since receiving positive feedback from music agencies, media promotion companies and publishers, we have signed with Outpost Media and Kudos Distribution to promote and release 2 singles and the album. We have recently signed one of our tracks(digit-izm) to a new MTV series "slips" which has led to a number of publishing opportunities. Read more on Last.fm.
