Not Tonight Lyrics

If I were stronger I'd just let you leave
You'd say it's over and I would just agree
Then I'd tell you I wish you the best, I really do
You deserve happiness, I can't give you what you need
You can leave, just not tonight

I'm not ready to lay this down
I'm too stubborn to quit you now
There's a voice somewhere deep inside of my mind
Saying it's too soon to let you go tonight
I'm in no hurry to hear goodbye
Why can't it wait till the morning light?
We can come undone some other time
Just not tonight

Before the stars go out, before we disappear
Let me hold you now, rest your head, right here
But I can't live without you to make your love come back
What can I say to make you stop
Here in your tracks, I know you're staring at the wrong way, as tonight

I'm not ready to lay this down
I'm too stubborn to quit you now
There's a voice somewhere deep inside of my mind
Saying it's too soon to let you go tonight
I'm in no hurry to hear goodbye
Why can't it wait till the morning light?
We can come undone some other time
Just not tonight

Not tonight

I'm not ready to lay this down
I'm too stubborn to quit you now
There's a voice somewhere deep inside of my mind
Saying it's too soon to let you go tonight
I'm in no hurry to hear goodbye
Why can't it wait till the morning light?
We can come undone some other time
Just not tonight

Not tonight
Just not tonight

If I were stronger I'd just let you leave
You'd say it's over and I would just agree

1) Steel Magnolia is an American country music duo that won season two of the television talent show Can You Duet. The duo consists of Meghan Linsey and her boyfriend, Joshua Scott Jones.

Meghan Linsey originally met Joshua Scott Jones when she was working at a Nashville karaoke bar. Not only did they become a couple but they went on to become the successful Country music duo, Steel Magnolia. The first song the pair wrote together was the break up tune Edge of Goodbye. Speaking with Songfacts.com about the song in a 2011 interview, Joshua said, "It's kind of ironic the first song that we wrote together and it's a breakup song. We keep everything out there. We don't really lie about anything."

After becoming the top winner on Can You Duet, the duo signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records, and released its debut single "Keep On Lovin' You" in August 2009. A second single, "Just By Being You (Halo and Wings)," followed in July 2010.

A chance meeting at a karaoke bar in Nashville's Printers Alley in 2006 led Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones to form Steel Magnolia, the vocal duo which won the second season of CMT's Can You Duet talent competition. Linsey and Jones' very first vocal collaboration took place that night with an impromptu version of Air Supply's "I'm All Out of Love." A native of Ponchatoula, La., Linsey began performing at an early age. By the time she was 15, she had already opened shows for Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, Gary Allan, Blake Shelton and others. Just days after graduating from high school in 2004, she moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music, supporting herself as the host at a local karaoke club. Jones, a singer-songwriter from Charleston, Ill., also began performing at an early age and later moved to Los Angeles, performing at clubs such as the Viper Room, the Knitting Factory and the Lava Lounge. He eventually returned to Illinois for a period of time before relocating to Nashville. As winners of Can You Duet, Steel Magnolia was rewarded with a contract at Big Machine Records, the Nashville-based label whose roster includes Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram, Trisha Yearwood and others.
