Frontman, Brady Ballew, a former professional soccer player from Seattle, met Oklahoma brothers, Will (guitar) and Charlie Spears (drums) when soccer relocated him to the southern plains in 2015. In 2018, the group started playing music at a yoga studio afterhours. Beachfriends soon started booking shows throughout Tulsa and has gone on to headline Tiny Porch Festival in 2019, Dark Mode Festival and Oktoberfest 2020. Beachfriends' warm pop sound was pushed out all over the world thanks to Spotify including multiple singles on editorial playlists such as Fresh Finds and Soda.
