Orillia, Ontario, Canada’s own Awake & Dreaming began just as most bands do, bored kids with big dreams. Growing up in a retirement village in northern Canada isn’t exactly a breeding ground for rock bands, but what it will do is motivate a young person to do all that they can to get out. That’s exactly what Awake and Dreaming has done; loaded the van and got the hell out.

Awake and Dreaming’s devotion to the road is unrivaled, playing over 150 shows in 2006 alone, taking their explosive live show across the entire continent. Live this band is simply magnificent. Cam’s (Vocals/Guitar) use of symbolism in his lyrics along with his powerful and emotional vocal style leaves any listeners brain and ears both completely satisfied. Not to mention the impossibly tight music led by Brett Roberts pounding drums, Brian Browns extremely energetic Bass performance and Brad Nemeth’s wonderful guitar work and backing vocals. Their on stage charisma together is truly something to see. Playing 150 + shows a year isn’t easy but the perseverance has been successful as the band has now had several appearances on the Vans Warped Tour, tour dates with the likes of Circa Survive, The Junior Varsity, Summerside, Emmanuel, Not By Choice, Cauterize and more all under their belts. They have successfully become yet another international export of the Ontario rock scene that has brought the world Alexisonfire, Boys Night Out, Silverstein and more.

In July of 2005 Awake and Dreaming released a self titled EP; the release has gone over exceptionally well and continues to open up many doors for the boys; including international recognition. The EP will see a release this spring on prominent Japanese label CCR Entertainment with a Japanese tour to follow. Led by the song “The Common Cold Shoulder” which has been selected by various compilations including releases from Drive Thru Records, Purevolume.com, Exit 57 Records, La Pesadilla records (UK); the release has seen worldwide appreciation; As well as being the #1 most played independent band in Canada on myspace.com and nearly 400,000 listens and downloads online.

So here they are in 2006 and their unwavering dedication is finally paying off. The band will see a release this spring on new US startup label Another City Records distroed by Lumberjack/Mordam which will allow their debut full length album to be in stores around the world. Heading into the studio with producer Chris Gordon who has worked on multi-platinum albums from Sum 41, Our Lady Peace, Nelly Furtado the band is armed with an onslaught of new songs that will surly drive them to the forefront of rock. Awake and Dreaming's album will be in stores around the globe this summer, coinciding with a jam-packed touring schedule. A recommendation to the world, get ready. This may just be your new favorite band.
