The grammatical definition for the term “idiom” reads, “. . . the language of a peculiar people; the syntactical, grammatical or structural form of artistic expression that is characteristic of a movement.” It is this definition that best embodies Idiomz da Prophesayer as both a producer and a lyricist. Influenced heavily by music all of his life, Idiomz (born Damon Curtis) has cultivated these influences into a tool by which he may effect others as he, himself once was. As a master of syntax, he manipulates beat and rhyme in such a way that he is re-defining a movement: A return to faith and the acceptance of Jesus Christ.

The debut release of “Come Hell or High Water” in the late summer of 2010 was a defining moment in the life of Idiomz da Prophesayer. It served as the introduction of his ministry to the world at large, and has been truly a labor of love in its undertaking. It is gritty, deliberate and borderline in its composition while maintaining relevancy, honesty and spirituality. It is not your typical Christian rap album. What “Come Hell Or High Water” is not, is trendy. It does not boast of the typical cookie-cutter “hip-hop” beats that dominate the genre at present. It does not cater to an “industry standard”. It is an exception to the rule. It is a collection of sonic dissonance where no two songs sound alike; however, the overall outcome just seems to work. It is not preachy in nature; rather, it is meant to be a display of real-life scenarios to which one can relate. It is an ever clear message spoken in a universal language.

“When you are a wandering soul looking for purpose and definition, it is very easy to get distracted. What’s worse is how easy it is to get lead down the wrong path. With music as my tool, I am trying to help those who are seeking to find their way. It was because of this music that, I myself have been able to reconnect with Jesus Christ and accept Him as my personal savior. It is only natural that I am dedicated through my ministry to do the same.”

As a youth football coach, a host at his home church and a volunteer with his church’s youth group, Idiomz da Prophesayer ministers far beyond his music. “One of my greatest joys is being able to connect with and influence the teenagers that I coach. God has placed me in a position where I can make an impression in their lives. It is a great responsibility and I sometimes enjoy it just as much, if not more, than ministering on stage!”

As 2010 starts to wind down, you can find Idiomz hard at work ministering on stage, volunteering with the youth group or participating in other opportunities to serve. With 2011 just around the corner, you can expect that he will continue to serve the masses, through music, with a message of faith and the acceptance of Jesus Christ. “My music ministry is a calling; but, it too has its season. I am just a vessel and my music is just a tool. Because long after I hang up my mic, I’m still going to be shouting the message of Jesus every chance I get!”

More than just an emcee . . . But also an evangelist - "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. . ." (Titus 2:12)
