The Riflebirds is an attempt to mix Tom Waits ballads, low key Americana, obscure slow-core German jazz and English Doom Metal in a one person orchestrated vanity project. It didn’t work on the first record, The Riflebirds EP (Lofly Records), recorded by Todd Dixon (The Rational Academy) and produced by Andrew White (Restream,Mr Maps) in 2008, but I'm happy with it and my friends like it. 4ZZZ and 2FBI have played it and it was launched at the Zoo in Brisbane. Now based in Melbourne, influences include bloody mindedness, coffee, frustration, coffee, overthought and long walks in the country.
