Helle Hansen has been named ”a fabulous singer/songwriter” and ”one of Denmark's most remarkable women in music”.

Originally starting out at the piano, then completing a 6-year education at the Royal Academy of Music as a classical recorder player, Helle Hansen has since contributed to her own 8 solo albums (around 60 albums altogether - from duo to bigband) as a singer, musician, composer and lyricist, as well as a vocal and instrumental arranger and producer.

As a rare feat, Helle Hansen is now a 7-time "Honorable Mention Award"-winner in the U.S.A. Songwriting Competition (2002-2008), in the Jazz, Latin and Lyrics categories, the last 2 year's as the songwriter in the world with the most songs in the finals.

Helle Hansen's merits also include the funky soulduet "Experience", recorded by Andrew Strong (“The Commitments”) and Danish singer Jette Torp on Torp's platinum-selling debut album. But Helle Hansen has also written a great number of songs, for other artists, as well as for her own many and different constellations.

As a composer and lyricist, Helle Hansen has been much praised by the press, and has received several Danish music awards. Her music contains references to jazz, soul, latin, pop and classical music, as well as the American singer/songwriter tradition, and is largely unconcerned with genre and trend.

In 2008, Helle Hansen was the composer, lyricist and arranger of the German dance theatre performance “Shoes With Wings” (performed in Hildesheim, Hannover a.o.), and of the Danish-American soulmusical “STEAM” (showcased in Denmark and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scotland).
