Wyxz (pronounced /wɪks.ɪz/) is an experimental project that was created in 2016 by musician/composer Ben Coniguliaro. Initially starting as a sound collage project that blended manipulated samples and noise with elements of free improvisation and avant-garde progressive rock, they quickly became associated with the 'brutal prog' sound while continuing to sport numerous other hidden influences up their sleeves. Their sound continues to sporadically evolve in an unpredictable manner, traversing stylistic development throughout their discography.

Wickman (2017) and YiY (2019) saw the project transition from explorative sonic trickery to a sound primarily centered around dark math rock and avant-prog. In 2020, Wyxz released their fifth album, Odyx, on Tzadik Records. This epic release encapsulates the brutal math rock energy of the previous releases with an even wider array of influences and tonal reach. It has been confirmed that Wyxz is working on new music in the 2020s, but there is no clear idea of when it will be released or even what stylistic direction they might choose to go in, the unpredictable mavericks they are.

In the past, Wyxz has been described as a loosely collaborative project, meaning the lineup of the “group” can take any shape at any time - it could be a large ensemble or a solo outlet interchangeably, creating a vaguely interwoven collective web. However, this has largely just remained conceptual through the years. A live lineup was solidified in 2025 comprising the core members of Ben Coniguliaro (drums), Quinn Coniguliaro (bass), and Sean Saville (guitar), with their first performances taking place in 2026. Wyxz remains a sporadic project that melds creative minds and incorporates a diverse range of experimental influences, with plans for several more releases and performances in the future.
