Giannis Aggelakas (Γιάννης Αγγελάκας) was the frontman of the biggest ever Greek rock band Trypes (Τρύπες). Trypes used to make albums of psychedelic/punk/grunge rock.

After completing their cycle as a band Giannis Aggelakas has devoted himself in creating experimental music of all kinds.

He played in an independent film called "O chamenos ta pairnei ola" (Loser takes it all) and wrote the soundtrack of the movie.

In year 2005 he released a double album called "Apo'do kai pano" (From here onwards), after practicing for 3 years with a greek collective called Episkeptes (The visitors) (see Ο Γιάννης Αγγελάκας και οι Επισκέπτες) who were his band in creating the album. The album was full of folk/experimental rock with the use of more than 20 instruments that had really given the album an amazing debth.

In year 2005 he released another album called "Oi anases ton likon" (Wolves breaths) together with Nikos Veliotis (Νίκος Βελιώτης) (see Γιάννης Αγγελάκας & Νίκος Βελιώτης), another artist who shared Aggelakas vision and passion about music. The album is a deep melancholic dive into freak folk with the use of a lot of instruments.

In year 2007 he released with Nikos Veliotis another album.

Giannis Aggelakas is one of Greece's greatest singers - songwriters - musicians with a bitter clever sense of humour and against any kind of authority that manipulates art and common people in general.
