There are multiple artists named Luiza, including 1) a French singer, 2) a Japanese singer, 3) a Brazilian bossa nova singer from the 60s, and 4) a video game remixer.
1) Born in Rennes to a Brazilian mother and French father, Luiza came into contact with music at an early age. She studied classical music at the Conservatoire, then left for Brazil, where she discovered different musical practices, before studying at the Beaux-Arts de la Réunion. Back in Paris, she embarked on a musical career full of collaborations, recording a dub EP with Khoe Wa and lending her voice to Fakear, Mahom and Flavia Coelho. As a solo artist, she has released a number of tracks combining French pop, South American music and tropical rhythms, creating crossovers with cumbia on Demain demain, baile funk on Oxalà, maloya on Wadidadu and Latin pop on Chica. In 2025, she released the Fantastik EP, followed by a tour of summer festivals.
2) Luiza, born on September 28, 1988, is a singer-songwriter hailing from Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. She has a Japanese father and a Romanian mother.
Her interest in music sparked during her childhood when she played around with the piano in her living room. She had a fondness for pop icons like Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. However, her exposure to Evanescence, introduced her to the world of bands and sparked her interest in various genres, ranging from classical and Western pop to R&B, game music, electronic, jazz, and rock, drawing influences from anything with captivating melodies.
Luiza started her music career as the vocalist of the pop rock band The Winking Owl, which formed in 2010. Her joining in the band occurred in a serendipitous manner, as she was invited by Yoma, the band's founding guitarist. They had played together in their high school light music club, but lost contact when Yoma went to study music in the United States. Although Luiza hadn't been actively involved in music activities at the time, the offer presented a promising opportunity, and she decided to give it a try, eventually becoming an integral part of the band's journey.
The Winking Owl experienced significant milestones, including a major debut in 2015, and gained valuable experience through nationwide tours and live performances overseas. However, the band went on an indefinite hiatus following Luiza's departure on July 15, 2020. The decision was announced on the band's official website due to differences in direction. After careful consideration, each member, along with the staff, came to the conclusion to put the band on hiatus.
Since the hiatus, Luiza embarked on a solo career. In 2020, she contributed the ending theme "Only Wish" for the anime "Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet." On April 6, 2021, she made her debut as a singer-songwriter and released her first single, "Loveless."
Subsequently, she released her second single, "Over My Scars," on July 6, 2021, followed by her third single, "S O U N D," on August 14, 2021. On December 7, 2021, she released her fourth single, "CALLING," and continued to captivate audiences with her fifth single, "HONEY DAYS (GONE TOO SOON)," released on April 6, 2022.
