Equipped with an arsenal of power infused indie-pop and a compelling live presence, Cola-Cola has emerged as one of Los Angeles’ most promising young bands. A paradox of depth and immediacy, the four-piece rock outfit possesses a sophistication not commonly found with such an accessible sound. The group’s intricate vocal harmonies and bombastic beats are appreciated by discerning critics and casual ears alike.

The course was set in the spring of 2007 when Josh Ben-Noah and Adam Brown met in Los Angeles and began working on the band’s earliest material. The two songwriters were joined just months later by bassist/vocalist Michael “Mikey Fierce” Gong who fit in effortlessly and added the final voice needed to create the three part harmony that has become such an indispensable ingredient to the Cola-Cola formula.

The band has maintained a true DIY spirit since its inception. From executing all facets of the recording process independently to hand silk-screening t-shirts designed by Ben-Noah, the group insists on outsourcing as little work as possible. Even the buttons passed out at the earliest Cola-Cola shows were manufactured by the band under a flashlight on a sweltering Los Angeles night during a citywide power outage.

The goal from the start was a gimmick free aesthetic and sound. This approach has allowed the band to ingratiate itself with the Los Angeles music community. Their self titled debut EP was quickly embraced after its independent release in October of 2008. The first single, “Paper Bird”, has received airplay on both of Los Angeles’ prominent local radio shows, KROQ’s Locals Only and Indie 103.1’s Check One…Two. A video to accompany the song, directed by Cameron Thomas, was released soon after.

Produced by the band and expertly mastered by JJ Golden (Devendra Banhart, The New Pornographers), the Cola-Cola EP works as the perfect introduction to a sound that is uniquely fresh and unapologetically catchy. After a successful run of shows throughout California the band embarked on a 10-date West Coast tour with new drummer Chris Gregory in support of the release.

Much of 2009 was spent in the studio working on material for a full length album. The songs, cultivated during the band's increasingly extensive tours, were captured with precision in the recording sessions and in Spring of 2010 the effort was completed. The album, entitled Switch on Your Electric Light, was released in early Summer and supported by an ambitious national tour.
