In 2009 Earl Pickens & Family made a splash in the Americana pond by recording their alt.country/bluegrass version of the iconic U2 album “The Joshua Tree". The live recording enjoyed airplay in the states as well as abroad; and Earl toured the show throughout the northeast landing gigs in a range of venues from the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rodeo Bar in New York City to the Rochester Jazz Festival, where Earl & Family played alongside an eclectic mix of artists like Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock and The Bottle Rockets.

Earl Pickens & Family follow up their Joshua Tree success with a new disc of original material, entitled Gathering. The 10 song CD features songs by Earl and band mates Bruce W. Derr & Jessie Yamas, runs the alt.-country gamut from from reflective ballads and dark minor blues to twang rockers and even a pop song or two. The bands distinctive harmonies and bare bones instrumentation remain intact on Gathering, hinting at influences as disparate as The Avett Brothers, The Jayhawks and the The Flying Burrito Brothers.
