The Bee's Niece is singer/songwriter and saw player Ragnhild Zeigler from Norway. She moved to Manchester, England to study music, and there she met James Phillips (guitar and wineglasses), Joel Roberts (double bass) and Hayley Trower (backing vocals). Ragnhild has returned to Norway and is now performing as a solo artist. The Bee's Niece debut album is called "I don't speak cat" and was recorded at Shay's studio in Galway, Ireland 2010. The album is self released and Ragnhild did the album cover embroidery herself. She went on a small world tour after the album release (England, Norway, Iceland, USA)

Ragnhild's songwriting is influenced by the antifolk tradition of Jeffrey Lewis, Regina Spektor and Nina Nastasia, but her biggest music hero is Tom Waits. She is also influenced by alternative folkish songwriters like Bob Dyland, Vashti Bunyan, Loudon Wainwright and Ivor Cutler.

Ragnhild is currently working on her 2nd album and playing saw for other musicians, while studying social work and being an elected member of the local city council. As part of he social work degree she spent 4 months in Tanzania and is now planning to build libraries in poor villages there. Her 2nd album will include a few songs in Swahili. Read more on Last.fm.
