Eye Rake is a Crossover/Thrash Metal band from Tempe, Arizona.
They came together in 2015 through several band member connections to each other. Ben and Johnny, both playing together in long established bands, Casket Life and Broloaf, which have become powerhouses in the AZ Punk Rock scene. Jason and Jay in The Unemployment Party, which laid the groundwork for the formation of Eye Rake. Jason and Jay vowed after the disbandment of Unemployment Party to play together again. With Ben, Jason and Johnny performing in local Punk / Speedrock band, Swapmeat. No need to look too far for band members to form a new band.

Jason and Ben began talking about forming a Thrash Metal band after about a year from forming Swapmeat. “Metal, especially Thrash, was something Ben and I have always been into, but haven’t had the chance to explore musically. Early on, I’ve tried to start a couple Thrash bands, but it never came to fruition”, explained Jason. “This seemed a perfect time to do something a little different than what we were comfortable with. I talked to Johnny about it a few times, even before him joining Swapmeat and all the while Jay and I wanting to start a new band. Didn’t take too much effort to finally get all of us in one room working on songs. The four of us are the type of musicians that like to be challenged and not do the same thing over and over again, so right away songs poured out. About three months later we had an EP and our first show was opening for DRI.”
