Video Store is a Dutch punk rock band formed by musicians with extensive backgrounds in the European hardcore and alternative scenes. The group features Harm Haverman (guitar, vocals), Jeroen Kulk (drums), Julian Schaap (bass, vocals), and Aart Steekelenburg (guitar, vocals). The members live in the Netherlands, primarily in Rotterdam.

Before forming Video Store, its members played in a number of established bands including Face Tomorrow, Modern Life Is War, Razor Crusade, Reaching Forward, Malkovich, GOLD, Killtraitors, and Sepiroth, as well as current projects such as Backfire!, The Dead Cvlt and Trenchwar. This diverse collective experience across punk, hardcore, indie, and post-hardcore shapes Video Store’s distinct sound.

Musically, Video Store draws heavy inspiration from the late-1980s Chapel Hill scene, particularly bands such as Superchunk and Archers of Loaf, as well as the work of Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü, Sugar). Their songs also reflect the melodic grit of The Replacements and the emotional dynamics of mid-1990s Midwestern emo. The result is a style that blends melodic punk energy with introspective songwriting and a sense of nostalgic urgency.

Formed with the intention of reconnecting to the raw excitement of playing music together, Video Store emphasizes direct, energetic songwriting over studio polish. Their recordings capture the immediacy of live performance, characterized by driving guitars, harmonized vocals, and emotionally resonant melodies.

Video Store continues to develop within the European underground music scene, contributing a contemporary take on classic indie and punk influences while maintaining the DIY spirit that defines their collective musical roots.
