Mike Keneally & Beer for Dolphins was a musical vehicle of Mike Keneally's that spanned three official releases and, sometimes, varying musicians:

Half Alive in Hollywood (Immune Records, 1996) is a two disc live CD with Disc One: Live In A Studio and Disc Two: Live On A Stage, featuring Keneally on vocals, guitar, keyboards, instruments; Bryan Beller on bass; Toss Panos and Joe Travers on drums.

Sluggo! (Immune Records, 1997) features Mike Keneally on vocals lead and backing vocals, electric, acoustic, 12-string and slide guitars, grand piano, moog, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, synthesizers, bass, drums, tambourine, bell tree, bird whistle, train whistle, shelf, percussion, sound effects, electric mandolin, Hammond organ, Fisher-Price alphabet desk, can, egg (shaking), slit drum, table; Bryan Beller, bass; Bob Tedde, vocals; Mark DeCerbo, vocals; Frank Briggs, drums, synthesizer; Toss Panos, drums, can, percussion; Joe Travers, drums; Tom Freeman, drums; Mike Mangini, drums; Jeff Forrest, parade snare.

Dancing (Exowax, 2000) finds Keneally putting together a crack seven-piece group to make this release truly a band effort featuring Mike Keneally on vocals, lead guitar; Bryan Beller: bass; Marc Ziegenhagen: keyboards; Jason Harrison Smith: drums; Evan Francis: alto sax, flute; Chris Opperman: trumpet; Tricia Williams: percussion; Rick Musallam: guitar.

No matter who Keneally happens to be playing with, he makes full use of his musical palette, painting each album with a wide variety of sounds and influences - from artful rock to progressive rock to jazz rock fusion to avant-garde fusion. It's obvious everyone involved with the project has an open-hearted, sheer joy in the making of music. The results on these three albums are evidence. Read more on Last.fm.
