Negril was a reggae supergroup that released one self-titled instrumental album. It was originally released in 1975 from a session produced, arranged and mostly composed by Eric Gale, before he went back to New York to become one of the most in-demand East Coast session guitarists. It including some of Jamaica's best-known musicians. The album Negril was recorded at the Harry J Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. The name refers to an impoverished Jamaican seaside village which, in 1975, was yet to become a popular tourist destination and had unsophisticated accommodations, but a splendid beach and natural beauty which inspired Gale to memorialize it.

Negril consisted of:
Eric Gale (Lead Guitar)
Peter Tosh (Rhythm Guitar)
Richard Tee (Piano)
Keith Sterling (Piano)
Leslie Butler (Organ & Synthesizer)
Cedric "Im" Brooks (Saxophone, Percussion)
Val Douglas (Bass Guitar)
Aston "Family Man" Barrett (Bass Guitar)
Paul Douglas (Drums), Sparrow Martin (Drums)
Joe Higgs (Percussion)
Isiah "Sticky" Thompson (Percussion).

Some CD releases have Eric Gale or Peter Tosh & Friends, rather than Negril, as the artist. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
