Sinister Dane was a funk metal band, formed in St. Louis in 1988. The band began building up a reputation and toured with
Living Colour during the famous band's "Biscuit" tour in 1991. Around this time, the band recorded their Different Shades of Frustration demos. Singer Peter Bold and guitarist Obeid Khan then left the band.

Donald "The Duck" Williams (bass) and Matt Martin (drums) were the only two members left from the original lineup. After many personnel changes, Williams and Martin were joined by Joe Sears (vocals) and Jay Summers (guitar). The band then signed to Columbia Records and released one album in 1994.
