Rick Savage, known among his bandmates and fans as Sav, was born December 2, 1960 in Sheffield, England. Turning down a promising career in professional soccer, he co-founded a band called Atomic Mass, with Pete Willis and Tony Kenning. This band was the skeleton of the 80s superstar group Def Leppard. A guitarist by trade, he filled in on bass until another one could take over. However, bass is the position he still holds 30 years on. Read more on Last.fm.
