Music Beyond Genre Boundaries
SMOTCH is a producer duo with support of several other artists. Not focused on any particular genre, they are doing what comes to their mind and makes 'em have a good time in their studio. Influenced by Metal, Punk, Grunge and Goth they are creating a variety of different styles, so the songs do not relate to a single genre like a traditional band, it's more like several bands from different genres.
Crossover in it's most original sense.
Therefore they also keep the artwork mostly abstract. To achieve this artistic freedom, they disrespect limitations and push the extreme. SMOTCH is Steve Stereo and Steve Hammer
History:
They started this project about 25 years ago, in non profit way, within own studio. A 16 track tape machine, guitar equippment, lot's of synthesizers, a drum machine and a PC built our technical foundation, with which they were doing composing, recording, mixing and mastering on our own. Early they added video projections to their live performances and started collaborating with other aritists. After finishing university and starting their carrers as electronic engineer and business economist, they had less time, so they did some optimization to their creativ process. Removing the option of live performances, they highly optimized their process to composing and recording only, now fully digital. So after creating almost 100 songs, they started releasing their stuff, new current songs, but also existing ones. Read more on Last.fm.
