Jessie Houston was born in Oshawa ON and is a socially conscious, musically diverse artistic talent. She begged her folks for a bass when she was twelve and started teaching herself acoustic guitar shortly after moving to Lindsay ON. She has a great soulful blend of contemporary and vintage influences she uses to craft mood altering music. Jessie has performed solo and in many various acts including Barn Fuzz, and The New Threads.

Bruce Mackinnon was born in Bowmanville ON and has a natural affinity for music. taking to it like a duck to water, moving smoothly between many instruments including piano, drums, bass, horns, accordion, pretty much anything he can get his hands on. He produced prolifically with the eclectic project Pomme De Chien, and since then has played in numerous acts around Durham Region including Hairy Holler, The Micronite Filters, Fish Head Phil, Oraphis and more. Bruce eventually moved to Oshawa where Jessie had moved back. In 2009 they got together and formed Mellowkotzen, writing a myriad of songs together.
