Knocker is a an American post rock experimental project. The creative outlet of singer/songwriter David Roberts (Firm Stools, Calico Jane). Much of the music is recorded with a Nagra mono reel to reel tape recorder, documenting an orchestra of found sounds and a chorus of tortured voices. Recorded on a hundred year old farm in near complete isolation, many of the sonic means are found in the tool shed or barn. Befitting the environment, elements are often slowed to a crawl to reveal hidden nuance. Like gutting a fish, it becomes more open and carnal as creeping rhythms become disjointed from melody, spawning unsettling theater.
