Handholder was started by Jimmy Hranowskyj in 2020 with the release of his first self-released single. Hranowskyj writes, records, mixes, and masters all of Handholder's material. He released the debut EP "Clearing" in August 2022. Jimmy moved to Athens, Georgia for college where he met members Luke Courts, Alex White, Matthew Roberts, and Joey Bray.

Hranowskyj fronts the band and plays guitar. Luke Courts provides guitar and backup vocals. Joey Bray plays drums. Alex White plays keys and soprano saxophone, and Matthew Roberts plays bass.
