Say Something Real Lyrics

We're in a state of emergency
A mess of confusion
The danger is great
It's plain to see
Desperate times call for desperate solutions
Fear of love is a fear of pain, baby
It's just an illusion
We've been wrong, we've been right
We've been up day and night
Like soldiers in a revolution
We're like soldiers in a revolution
There's a war goin' on in here
Gotta find us a betta solution
Just let it all hang out
Or say somethin' real (say somethin' real)
Hey girl (say somethin' real)
Won'tcha say somethin' real girl
(say somethin' real) doo doo, doo doo, baby
(say somethin' real)
Say the words mama rescue me
With love and affection
Betta send for the calvary
Cause I'm fed up with all yo rejection
Girl yo love is a sacred thang
And I like it
But I'm selfish by nature
That's why I get to you
You get to me
We show out girl
We're the talk of a nation
We're soldiers in a revolution
There's a war goin' on in here girl
Gotta find us a betta solution
Just let it all hang out yeah
Or say somethin' real (say somethin' real)
Doo doo doo doo, hey yeah
(say somethin' real) Say somethin' real baby
(say somethin' real) Doo doo doo doo, hey yeah
Ya know they say it's a thin line
between love and hate (baby baby)
Maybe that's why
Sometimes we cool
And sometimes we ain't
And we both have the nerve to demand satisfaction
(you know I love you girl)
But each word that we serve has a cosmic reaction
You know that we say what we want
Girl we're soldiers in a revolution
There's a war goin' on in here girl
We gotta find us a betta solution
Just let it all hang out yeah
Or say somethin' real (say somethin' real) Oh
(doo doo doo doo)
Baby baby baby yeah
(doo doo doo doo)
Set your words girl
(doo doo doo doo)
Somethin' real hey
(doo doo doo doo)
We're like soldiers in a revolution
(doo doo doo doo)
And our words no solution
(doo doo doo doo)
And there's speakin' words, and healin' words, and feelin' words, baby yeah
(doo doo doo doo say somethin' real)
Say what you want girl (say somethin' real girl doo doo doo doo)
You know that I need you (doo doo doo doo)
Love is the answer (doo doo doo doo)
And I just wanna please you (doo doo doo doo)
Say somethin' real girl
(say somethin' real doo doo doo doo)
Baby baby yeah

Kem Owens, professionally known as Kem, is an American R&B/soul singer, songwriter, and producer. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and raised in Detroit, Michigan.

After finishing high school, Kem dealt with homelessness, addiction, and isolation from his family. He did not overcome these issues until he turned to spirituality and music, as he has said, "My career didn't take off until I connected with my spirituality. That's why I take time on stage and on the album to administer spirituality to people. That's one of the things that I am most proud of." He has also stated that he does not create music marketed to the mainstream hip-hop-dominated R&B crowd but to people who enjoy his soul/jazz adult contemporary sound and lyrical content. He wrote, produced, and financed his self-released debut album, Kemistry, by singing in a wedding band and waiting tables. He was later signed by Motown Records, who re-released the album on February 25, 2003. The album's first single, "Love Calls", became a hit at urban adult contemporary and smooth jazz radio. He followed his debut release with a sophomore album, Album II, released May 17, 2005. It included the hit single "I Can't Stop Loving You", a #1 at urban adult contemporary radio, and the song "You Might Win" featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Read more on Last.fm.
