The Black Watch ( The Forty Twa) & ( Am Freacain Dubh ) was first raised in 1725 with six independent companies , one Munro's, one of Grant's one of Fraser,s,and three of Cambell,s. Other Clans contributed as solders, but officers came from clans loyal to the wigs. It also has been known as the 43d Highlanders, and the 42d Royal Highlanders. Then in 28th of March 2006 it became known as the ( The Black Watch 3rd Battalion, Royal Highland Regiment ) . The pipes and drum band is known to wear the black doublet and royal Stewart tartan. to reflect the status of Royal regiment The Black Watch has been involved in engagements from Fontenoy to Araq, Afghanistan, and just about every thing in between.
