... for W.H. Auden. Scarcely any German knew about the English poet before this romantic comedy was re-
leased in our cinemas. Since then, his
“Funeral Blues” has become fabulus.
Andreas Schnermann, the German
pianist, was inspired by Auden’s sen-
sitive lyric being mentioned with the same breath like Yeats’ or T.S. Eliot’s high-grade poetries. What Auden pre-
sents in his work are the peculiarity of everyday life and fleeting but memo-
rable moments being smartly served in
a both funny and wise manner com-
pleted by a dash of irony. What a
challenge it means to transform these complex words into music! But if you are an experienced bandleader, com-
poser and internationally working musician like Andreas Schnermann, you will be eager to accept it. He succeeded in creating the corresponding fragile songs that will let you gasp for breath. Inga Lühning who is deemed to be the new “icon” in the Jazz scene, mystically gave her fairylike voice to the words. “Tell me the truth about love” is the title of the auspicious album. Possibly, you will not know the truth about love when you will have listened to all these songs, but at least you will certainly know what you’ll have to do immediately: Push the “repeat” button in order to feel the magic once again.
