Born in Iceland, Guðmundur has been a professional guitar player since he was a teenager. He first got known for his exceptional blues playing and was soon working with Chicago blues legends like Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Dawkins and Billy Boy Arnold. He has played hundreds of concerts and TV appearances with leading Icelandic artists, The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra as well as a number of well known international artists. Guðmundur has contributed to around 150 albums as a band member, session player, arranger or producer. Furthermore he has performed in a number of theatre productions and composed music for stage plays and films. He has received the Icelandic Music Awards three times for his guitar playing.
