Blue Rabbit is a San Francisco based octet that fuses alternative indie pop with baroque elements, modern rhythms, and a hint of cabaret. Fronted by a dynamic trio, grounded by drum and cello grooves, and adorned with the syncopated pulsing of a Celtic harp and violin, Blue Rabbit has been described as “The Andrews Sisters playing with Portishead,” or “Nick Cave songs with a touch of The Supremes.” Their live performance has been called ‘mesmerizing’ by The Bay Bridged (SF).
Since self-releasing their debut LP, “Separate” (Nov 08), Blue Rabbit has gigged relentlessly around the Bay Area – moving quickly from playing house parties to selling out ticketed events. They’ve performed live on local radio stations such as KWMR, KDVS, and KOWS, and in festivals as far away as CMW in Toronto. The band was voted Artist of the Month on The Deli Magazine SF, and ranked 3rd most popular indie-pop band in the Bay Area. From their debut, songs “Getting Away” and “Love Secret” have been included on four compilations, “Separate” will be on the soundtrack of Hollywood feature film, “5000 Seconds”, “Getting Away” was nominated as an ISSA song contest finalist, and “Sleep” just won first place in a song contest in the UK, for which the grand prize is the chance to work with a prestigious London recording studio and producer. They will be performing monthly for the rest of the Summer, while recording their sophomore release.
