2) UK band formed in 1997 and toyed with a few names before deciding on ‘Jinrai’, which is Japanese for 'good sounds'. With a range of styles seldom seen in today's pigeonholing music industry, Jinrai's strength lies in the timeless quality of their songs, which puts them above the fleeting trends of the pop market. Their unique sound, inspired by the classic song-writing of such artists as Terry Callier, Joni Mitchell, Curtis Mayfield and Gil Scott-Heron, displays an astonishing degree of creativity and sophistication, especially considering the band's average age of 23. Not only are there eight talented members, but many of Jinrai are also multi-instrumentalists, leading to on-stage instrument swapping antics that have to be seen to be believed.
