Azadeh is a singer-songwriter from London. She was recently featured in and interviewed on BBC Persian's popular 'Kook' programme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_FV_sczNPc).
Born and raised in Ealing, Queen of the London suburbs, Azadeh always had an innate passion for music. She grew up listening to a wide range of music namely Persian folk music and a great deal of indie and soul, not to mention a healthy diet of David Bowie and Nina Simone. However, it was not until the age of 16 when she started plucking the first self-taught chords of her own guitar that the song writing and singing talents surfaced.
Azadeh moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to read a languages and politics degree in 2002. It was here that she started performing original songs in the world renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, quickly becoming a part of the ‘music scene’ and forging a strong musical tie with guitarist Greg Sanderson.
After gliding their way up Edinburgh’s acoustic scene as part of a duo, Azadeh returned to her hometown, in 2007, to work on her own punchy and heartfelt live performances.
Following only a year of gigging in London, Azadeh stormed a national acoustic competition, walking away with top prize - a brand new Takamine guitar (a musician’s equivalent to a Porsche) and has played prestigious venues such as 93 Feet East the BBC music bar, BBC Persian, Bush Hall and Secret Garden Party. In 2009 Azadeh and her band held a popular and highly tipped residency named 'Azadeh's Secret Sunday' in Shoreditch where she played stripped back performances of her songs and invited many talented musicians to play and support.

‘Tunes so melodic and enveloping they make you want to grab hold of someone you love…Azadeh was enchanting and simply carried me through each song. Her voice is pure cashmere – soft, warm, expensive.’
BBC Club Live
‘Dreamy, atmospheric, meditational mementos. Music with almost healing quality, beautifully bare and gorgeously honest. A musical massage for the soul...’
