Shallow Lyrics

So close yet so distant
Fading face embrace is resistant
Words kept hidden
And the shadows dark
Your forbidden heart is shallow
Your emotions are hollow
You haven't learned it's time

'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back

It'll never be the same old song
It will never be the same
The cards are stacked
And time's run out
And everything's a game
So sing me your lullaby

'cause I need to know why
Why I keep falling',
Keep fallin'

'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back

You know you're shallow
Used to be on the top, but now you've dropped
Lost all your common sense
And now your brain's stopped
There nothing left in your mind except yourself
You gave it all up - your home, your friends, and your health
Now you're out on your own, you've lost your soul
Get a hold of yourself - know your role

So close yet so distant
Fading face embrace is resistant
Words kept hidden
And the shadows dark
Your forbidden heart is shallow,
Your emotions are hollow
You haven't learned it's time

'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
'cause you ain't comin' back
Ain't comin' back
Ain't comin' back
Ain't comin' back
Ain't comin' back

Serial Joe was a Canadian band from Newmarket, Ontario which consisted of high school students Ryan Dennis (vocals, guitar), Ryan Stever (guitar), John Davidson (bass guitar) and Dan Stadnicki (drums). The group released four full-length albums. They were the house band on "YTV System Crash", and won the 1998 Much Music Video award for best independent video ("Skidrow"), and the single from their first album, "Mistake", gained international airplay. They won several other awards, and were given the honour of performing at Woodstock 1999 in the "emerging artists" tent. In the early 2000s, they were dropped from their label and broke up shortly thereafter. Vocalist Ryan Dennis and guitarist Ryan Stever are now part of the hard rock group High Kapitol.
