Grand Invincible was formed under the philosophy that hip-hop as an art form was best served under the technological limitations of the late-80s and early-90s. Armed with only an AKAI MPC 2000, two turntables, a mixer, a microphone, and a hard-dug record collection with the intention of making the most out of the least (the original hip-hop aesthetic), the duo set out in the summer of 2007 to resurrect the grimey breaks and elevate a rare science.

After the 2008 DIY-distribution of their debut cdr-demo/album, Ask The Dust (which came inside a limited-edition, cut-n-paste comic 'zine), Grand Invincible linked up with Alex Pardee's artist collective, ZeroFriends, to release the album’s 12” single, "Purse Thieves b/w Elephant Tranq," in 2009. Both the disc and the 12" were heralded by underground blogs for the authentic music and artistic packaging alike.

2010 will see the release of their debut ZeroFriends cd album release, "Cold Hand In The Dice Game." The first 100 of which will come with individually numbered hand-screened prints of the cover art, screened and signed by the image's creator, inventive hand-stylist Eric Kneeland of Black Stamp, another ZeroFriends affiliate.

Before Grand Invincible, DJ Eons played guitar in Spazz, purveyors of the West Bay's power-violence grindcore movement in the 90s and featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Gummo," while Luke Sick honed his skills MCing for the DIY Sacred Hoop (Miasmatic) as well as major-label acts Brougham (Warner Bros.) and DJ Z-Trip (Hollywood).
