Freedom To Glide are a Midlands UK based band formed by Andy Nixon and Pete Riley. They formed Freedom To Glide in 2010 after collaborating on a Riley composed song Hypnotized. The seed was sewn for a full blown album project. Their RAIN EP was released in April 2012 and has been an extremely received debut release. The RAIN EP contained alternative mixes of 3 tracks from their eponymous 2013 full length debut album RAIN, a concept album dealing with the consequences of a century of war.

Remembrance Sunday 2012 saw the release of their 6 track mini album "THE WAIT". A concept album in its own right The Wait follows the story of an unknown soldier's experiences of WW1. Freedom To Glide described The Wait as a taste of things to come. Their music is thought provoking and sometimes deeply moving.

Their 2014 release "SICK TO DEATH" EP (released 05.11.13) is a concept piece about the effects of 'Shell Shock' in WW1. The official video to the opening track 'A Better Way' illustrates the concept perfectly:

Freedom to Glide are a progressive rock band from England. Featuring Pete Riley and Andy Nixon, both of whom play in a Pink Floyd tribute band, Freedom to Glide draw together the sound of Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Porcupine Tree on an album that is very much the spiritual successor to ‘The Final Cut’ with its conceptual theme of the costs of war. Beautifully played and perfectly recorded, ‘Rain’ is a throwback to the sublime melodies and fluid guitar work of ‘WYWH’-era Floyd with a touch of ‘Starless and Bible Black’ era Crimson thrown in for good measure. Poignant and intelligently written, there is no surprise that the album gained a number of plaudits (including Prog Mill album of the year) upon its release.

The album features a guest spot from Original 70s Badfinger member Bob Jackson on the track 'Silent Code', a song about Andy Nixon's Grandfather's experience on returning home after being a Far East POW from 1942-45. (Andy joined BADFINGER in 2015 and continues to tour with them as well as writing, recording and producing Freedom To Glide).


SEED (2019) is the third album from Freedom To Glide and completes their anti-war trilogy which began in 2013 with RAIN followed by FALL in 2016. With SEED Freedom To Glide have brought together every aspect of their unique sound to produce a very focused and personal concept album based around one man's experience of 1918 - the final year of World War 1. Musically, Freedom To Glide take you on a cinematic journey through their now familiar sonic landscape of layered synths, evocative acoustic guitar, atmospheric piano and soaring guitar solos.

THE CHRONICLE OF STOLEN SOULS (2022)
The fourth album from f2g is a culmination of a six year project where the band released a free download each Christmas between 2014 - 2019. Each track reflected on the 100 years prior to each Christmas. The free tracks were demo versions of the final productions available on THE CHRONICLE OF STOLEN SOULS along with 3 brand new tracks.
