The band was born in 1996, featuring traditional folk music; instruments played were -and still are- those of root italian music: mandolins, portuguese guitars, cellos, flutes and handmade percussions.
A diligent research has also been made with lyrics, traditional tale-telling, mediterranean languages, all mixing up with powerful instrumental texture.
Ever since, the band has given its best on live gigs, thus several famous festivals have prized them during the years: Keller Contest, Pelago Festival, Arezzo Wave, Tim Tour.
In 2001 Magnapasta released a 5-track CD (“Maronna Mia”) which introduces the band’s style, and the result seems to be very encouraging since people love the songs and follow the band’s gigs to sing the tunes along; magazines, radios and websites also like it, and the word spreads quickly.
After a great live tour in Italy, Magnapasta enter studios in January 2002 to nurse “Magnapasta”, a 11-tracks CD which fully represents what the band’s sound has become. Powerful drums and electro-vibes merge with jazzy-grooves and funky arrangements, giving new life to the traditional italian sound that calls from the singer, the mandolin and the folk percussions.
Three years of intense gigging, some splits and substitutions in the line-up, and finally Magnapasta release the new album on November 2006, and name it "I Grandi Cambiamenti", 'Major Changes'.
