“In 2013, Velvet Insane rose from the ashes of my short-lived, intense career with the deceased legendary Swedish manager Michael Sundèn, who tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a fall at Nottingham Rock City.

Distraught at his death but determined not to quit, I decided to invest everything I had in a new musical direction. With my passion for big choruses, melodies and riffs I wrote and recorded demos of songs for a band that in my eyes would be bigger than life itself. After a day on the job at a factory in Sweden, the band got the name "Velvet In Sane".

Bass player Jesper Sandström heard that I had something going on and tentatively got in touch about playing together. We decided to put ourselves to the test.
He brought along his friend Jonas Eriksson (then drums, now vocals) and the moment we struck the first few chords together it became clear to us all that something special was born.
After the first gig together (which took place at a tavern in Östersund) with a friend of mine standing in on vocals, we discovered that Jonas could not only play the drums but was also an incredibly good and charismatic singer.

On November 8th 2013 I organized a tribute concert to Michael Sunden in Ostersund named Stjärnfall, featuring artists such as Nicke Borg (Backyard Babies), State of Drama, writer Anders Tengner and of course Velvet In Sane .
This concert was Jonas' first appearance with the band as lead singer. Every single act on the bill blew the roof off.

Word of the band quickly spread among Sweden's rock fans after Stjärnfall, so we started recording some demos to see if we could capture the electric energy that bonded us together on stage.
At that point we came into contact with writer Sven Mörén of Rock News magazine, who wanted to do a story with about the rise and rise of Velvet In Sane.
He liked what he saw and heard and it all ended with him officially became the band's manager in February 2014.

The New Year (2014) began with a tour in the north of Sweden and high-profile gigs in Falun and Stockholm. More songs were written, more demos were recorded - in April we went into ESTA studios in Stockholm and recorded our first EP, which was released on May 16 this year.

A valued member from the very beginning, Jesper Sandström decided at that point that the band wasn't for him any longer so he quit.
We then brought in the music miracles that are Tobias Reimbertsson (drums) and Niklas Henriksson (bass).
With a new lineup and a new lease of life, we went down to Stockholm again and recorded our official debut EP "Youth on Fire" which was released worldwide on October 25 2014.

The release of the EP sparked an enormous interest in the band as fans, promoters and record companies caught wind of what we were doing from our Swedish base, and we finished 2014 with our eyes firmly on the year ahead, an upcoming tour of Australia and the feeling that our dreams are now within reach.
