Famous Coffee is a musical group originating from Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. The band consists of two permanent members, Grant Johnson and Jamie Doran and now operates out of Guelph, Ontario. Over the years a number of additional members have come and gone and it is typical of their work to feature spontaneous guests. All the additional members are usually called the friends of Famous Coffee.

Musically, Famous Coffee is a highly original group that has experimented with a wide variety of musical styles, Spoken Word and Performance Art techniques and are conscientious purveyors of Outsider Music. They rarely play live, but have been noted for their unusual compositions and willingness to explore sound and music of all kinds. Instead they have become prolific recording artists. Both Johnson and Doran are proficient at a wide variety of instruments and are always prepared to use anything new at hand. At last count, they have thirty albums (as of 2006). Recently, they have been recording under the name The Far-Out Space Rangers and using alternate names for the band members: Troy Paradise, Max Faggot and Jerry Beef (Jeff Huber, joined in 2004). A large number of albums are copyright 2000, this was the year that many of the original four-track recordings were transferred to digital format and made available on CD. Prior to 1996, Famous Coffee recorded scores of cassette albums dating as far back as 1983 when the band was formed.

Famous Coffee has refused to seek a major label. However, Itchy Balls, Sweaty Ass was released through Indie Pool Canada. In 1997, Itchy Balls, Sweaty Ass won runner-up independent Album of the Year as selected by The Wire Magazine. They now prefer to offer their music to anyone who asks for it for free. They have recorded music for a number of indie films by Mass Productions Canada: Hot Breakfast Films, namely: Swamp Too, The Ben Movie, Mysterious Allium and The ABC’s of Cucumbers.
