Zoe Sky Jordan is a Toronto based indie pop singer-songwriter. The six songs off her debut solo release ‘Restless, Unfocused’ feature textured, haunting vocals with inventive yet accessible melodic hooks. Zoe’s introspective and photographic lyrics, display a maturity and confidence beyond her 22 years. The ease with which she writes and sings is not surprising, given that she was raised in a household where music played such a large role in daily life. Her parents, accomplished singer-songwriters Amy Sky and Marc Jordan, encouraged her to express herself through music from the time she was born. Her “smoldering subtle-swagger”, is deeply informed by Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell, and draws comparisons to Emily Haines and Regina Spektor. Zoe’s evocative songs are a natural for film and television. She has had placements in shows such as Degrassi:TNG, HBO’s Less than Kind and Lost Girl; and her voice has been featured in ads for KIA, Tim Horton’s, Kijiji and Ontario Tourism. In addition to her solo work, Zoe co-fronts a band with singer-songwriter Colleen Dauncey called ‘Petty Victories’. Their song ‘Footsteps’, off their first album ‘Love Run’ (EMI), was chosen as the soundtrack for the retrospective on 60 years of Hockey, featured during the opening game of the 2013 Hockey Night in Canada season. Petty Victories has become known for their intertwining melody lines, rich harmonies and dynamic live shows. In 2011 they opened for City and Colour, Shad and The Sheepdogs at Festival of Friends in Ancaster. In 2012 they connected with producer Dan Weston, who has worked closely with both Dallas Green and Shad, to record the girls’ first full-length album ‘Wait it out’ slated for released in early 2013.
