A tantalizing six-minute tease of Parisian dark, experimental electronica.

Black Polygons's first release, available for free on his bandcamp, features buzzing synths, hollow, thudding percussion and eerie echoes, making up a lovely little six-minute set of vampiric, industrial-electronic tunes for your brief listening pleasure.

Hailing from Paris, Black Polygons' Cyril Rampal derives its dark, punchy electronic style from many influences, ranging from German electro-pop band Lali Puna to indie electronic outfit Dntel; however, the most obvious (and pleasing) influence to be found here is Nine Inch Nails, especially on the painfully short but sweet gem of the EP, “Reverse,” which you can listen to below.

"Reverse" is only a minute and a half long but packs a powerful punch, with a warlike, persistent pounding of percussion and scratchy reverberations that on the EP fades into the much more heavy “Chipset,” a song which starts off with a heaviness reminiscent of Salem's “Asia” that segues ever-so-slightly into a softer, steady pulse of more muted, but equally affecting, beats that continue until the EP's end. Though the May 2011 release of Black Polygon is much too short for our liking, hopefully the promise of the additional ten-plus tracks for a full length LP release in 2012 will be kept by the enigmatic artist, who brings a welcomed balance of darkness to indie electronica with his pulsing, stormy sound.
