With influences ranging from Radiohead and Dave Mathews to A Tribe Called Quest and Black Eyed Peas, Anxious Blue's music defies easy categorization. It is, perhaps, best described as "Urban Acoustic Soul" inviting comparisons to Sting, Jacksoul, and the Philosopher Kings. Based in Kitchener Waterloo, the band's two core members, Priyesh Shukla (vocals) and Trevor Kyle (guitar) began performing together in 1995.

In April 1999 they released their first CD, Sunsets in the Morning, a collection of eight acoustic numbers which quickly established the trademark Anxious Blue sound: deceptively accessible acoustic guitar riffs underscoring the brooding sensuality of Shukla's voice. For their sophomore release, Limits Push Themselves, Anxious Blue worked with Studio A Mirador producer Trevor Yuile who helped both further define and enlarge their sound. Limits Push Themselves is a musically cohesive yet refreshing blend of progressive jazz/hip hop rhythms, richly textured vocal harmonies, and the engaging acoustic pop that Anxious Blue fans have long been accustomed to..
