John Houston was born in Portsmouth, VA. His music is described as indie-folk-alternative-rock. His musical influences range from bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, Jimmy Eat World, and Death Cab for Cutie, to artist like Norah Jones, Pete Yorn, Damien Rice, and Ryan Adams. Currently unsigned John released his first independent LP "Highlights, Latenights, and Heartcries" on May 31, 2008. He also has some rare recordings released "Yours EP" (August 2006), "My Sunshine EP" (June 2007), and "Ghost Town Single" (May 2008).
