Abzorbr hiphop/alternative/experimental/Band
Functioning out of St. Paul Minnesota, Abzorbr, is another bind of subjects gasping for air, playing with angles and having conversations with empty space. Inspired by undefined motives, they view their exerted vision as a process, a flowing movement that will undoubtedly succeed in striking insulated nerves among required listeners, while at the same time of course, continuing to fuel their own human addictions to recognition and contradiction.
In this particular inventive time span Abzorbr strings together the living sounds of electric bass, a set of dented drums, a laptop full of diagonal noise and a frantically-driven, yet, soft-spoken vocal tantrum. Expressing through the use of vague compositional templates for guidance, while still remaining sensitive to the urgent needs of spontaneity, Abzorbr promises plasticity.
Their sound is the experience of discomfort similar to that awkward feeling one gets when making eye to eye contact for too long with another being. Modestly approaching the stage as if there wasnt one, without leaving time for withdrawal between songs, Abzorbr holds hands and joins those who choose to become involved in a heightened experience where attachment to Self wears thin and all still breathing find safety in that common strand of unfamiliar awareness that is left to share. No outward audience participation is necessary for intensity to effectively occur during a live performance by Abzorbr and their listeners.
Abzorbrs first attempt to speak the language of space is now considered Experiment/EP .. 1 (summer 2005); which became the catalyst in aiding Abzorbrs duty of sifting through judgmental wave lengths while searching for fellow seekers of honesty. After releasing this EP close to a year ago, the subjects will be releasing the first full length album labeled, "Capable of Teetering," in fall 2006; Abzorbr has no reason not to anticipate undivided attention and have already began to venture into a more cohesive=freeing approach.
Be on the look out for nothing, but when eye contact is made dont blink.
Kristoff Krane
(Vocalist/Lyricist)
Takes responsibility by morphing his, free-association, form of writing and vocalizing around gathered instrumentation produced by the OBrien brothers. Kranes approach integrates freestyling and pre-meditated lyrics into creations assembled by Abzorbr which are bound to touch the grey areas of open recipients. Kristoff Krane has toured with the all-improvisational partnership known as, Face Candy, consisting of, Eyedea (Rhymesayers Entertainment), Carnage (Hecatomb), Mazta I, JT Bates, Casey OBrien and K. Krane. The Face Candy record, where freestyling meets free jazz, entitled, "This is Where We Were," will be released by Rhymesayers Entertainment fall 2006. Krane is also a member of the broken-edged-rap-group, Saturday Morning Soundtrack, a pact between local hip-hop artists: Ecid, founder of record label, Fill in the Breaks, Impulse (Fill in the breaks) of Sector 7G, Capacity (Hecatomb) of project 13 and K. Krane. S.M.S expects their first record to drop fall of 2006 under the labels: Hecatomb and Fill in the Breaks and are anticipating a consequential response. Chris Keller is pursuing the field of counseling and social work.
Graham OBrien
(Drums)
Contributes his figure of expression through his own unique disciplined form of insistent drumming, while still remaining sensitive enough to naturally adapt to what is sonically occurring around him at all times. With precise timing and dead on attentiveness, Graham OBrien acquires the potential to overwhelm concentration itself. Graham OBrien is most responsible for the mixing and recording in Abzorbr and partially responsible for production as well. Along with his blood related partner, Casey OBrien, Graham is also one half of the electronica /experimental group, Dial_System, a multi-faceted project including mixing, production and recording. The drummer boy recently graduated from McNally Smith College of Music; he is currently employed as a recording engineer and is adamantly pursuing the world of recording, engineering and composing.
Casey OBrien
(Bass/Laptop)
Involvement in Abzorbr thus far has been shedding bending bursts of suspense through his own chiseled down style of bass playing which bounces from strict and uncompromising to fragile with glow. Caseys overall concern can be sensed through his uncontrived efforts that are sure to pull angles into shapes they have never dreamed of. Casey is accountable for triggering laptop noises and half responsible for the production of Abzorbr. Casey has managed to survive thus far by doing that which indeed, he dominates. Playing as a professional musician since 1995 he has played and studied bass with many world renown jazz musicians and still continues to contribute his sought after presence in the experimental scene. Casey has toured the country with Face Candy (as mentioned above) and also performs and composes for the rare-raw-gnawing band, Carbon Carousal, featuring Eyedea. Casey OBrien also tampers with the composition and production in Dial_system (as mentioned above) and is presently a humble student of music theory as well as a wise mentor to many.
Abzorbr
What does Abzorbr Promote?
Abzorbr asks, What are we promoting ?, before making any possibly destructive connections with those who are, unfortunately, involved in the fascination of dehumanizing others. Abzorbr is currently affiliated with other artists who support movements rooted in empathy and will continue to reach out. Abzorbr is also a component of a binding known as Barbwire Courtesy, a symbiotic bond between Abzorbr and local dissident artists of form, James Penfield and George Miller.
The network is pulsating.
Fundamental assumptions of Abzorbr:
Nothing can be said that hasnt already been said before.
A finalized song on display is a byproduct of neurotic ideation.
All conflicts are solutions to needs and behind every thought, feeling and behavior pattern lye some hidden construct which resulted in the creation of the conflict.
Sound wave vibrations mixed with intention do possess the potential of substantially influencing, altering, modifying and assisting one in following their own footsteps toward self-actualization.
