Sebastian Dangerfield are an Edinburgh-based five piece who have been writing, recording and performing together since 2007. The band’s style has developed in this time from dubious T-Rex and Punjabi MC covers into an (arguably) more mature blend of rock arrangements and pop hooks with an underlying twist of Americana following the introduction of violin, mandola and banjo into the mix over recent years.

The band comprises four twenty-something natives of the Edinburgh area and was fused into existence through a lucky combination of mutual friends and engineering degrees.

Sebastian Dangerfield are an established fixture now on the gig schedules of Edinburgh and beyond, and have built up a solid and dedicated fan base over the past few years. A short summary of career highlights so far includes a performance at an Island Records 50th Anniversary showcase in London in 2009, and opening for We Were Promised Jetpacks at the Edge Festival in Edinburgh last year.

“The Sound of the Old Machines” is the new EP recorded by Sebastian Dangerfield during December 2010 and is due for release on April 22nd 2011. The EP was recorded and mixed in Glasgow/Castlemilk by Andy Bush and mastered by Steven Ward.
The recording marks a significant step-up in songwriting quality, audio production and attention to detail for the band, but at its core retains the fundamental sense of energy and fun that has defined previous releases.

“The Sound of the Old Machines” will be physically available from the launch party at The Wee Red Bar on April 22nd and digitally available from the 2nd of May.
