“Questing Beast” is personal music, the capturing of a moment in sound, it does not respect genre-borders or limitations. 'Questing Beast' blends all kinds of influences together, resulting among others in popsongs, avant-gardistic soundscapes, dance influenced songs, harsh industrial and piano-ballads. It is what it is, there is more to come, but for now, this is as good as it gets.

“Questing Beast” started in 2002 as the the soloproject of Dutch, Amsterdam-based musicologystudent Melle Kromhout; experimenting with a variety of selfrecorded samples, drumsamples, his own voice and an electrical piano, songs developed gradually in a trial and error-like process of slowly layering sounds and voices. During these first years four 'albums' were compiled and handed out to family and friends under the name 'Mindtwister.'

When residing in Berlin in 2006, Melle took the best material of these albums and updated, upgraded, remixed and in some cases re-recorded it up to full satisfaction. With the addition of newer works from the years 2005 and 2006, he renamed himself “Questing Beast” and compiled the album 'Hidden Mirror’: 15 songs spanning from 2003 to 2007.

At the moment “Questing Beast” is nothing more than these home-recordings, but who knows what the future might hold...

Melle Kromhout finished his bachelorstudy in musicology with a thesis about German Industrial-pioneers Einstürzende Neubauten and his masters in Cultural Analysis with a thesis on electronic musician Matthew Herbert. He used to be singer in rockbands 'Le Group Sensationel "Badboy" Americain' (2001-2003) and '(In Advance)' (2003-2007).
