Speedcats are the duo consisting of electro/new wave/electronica artist Ben Camp and electronica/experimental/techno artist Mat Leutwyler. They are based in Philadelphia, USA. They are also known as THE BCML.

It was in the middle of the 90s that Philadelphia born Mat Leutwyler discovered electronic music in a small upstate New York artist loft and he has not been the same since. The music he heard in these formative years had such a profound impact on him that, from that day on, he devoted his life and career to electronic music production and DJing.

Mat’s drive for electronic music led him down a path of constant improvement in his musical and technical abilities. His professional development was soon noticed by his peers up and down the East Coast. Over the next few years he was regularly invited to perform at events in the Philadelphia, New York and DC area playing alongside international talent such as Lee Burridge, James Holden, Layo and Bushwacka! and the like at Fluid Nightclub's ‘Tantrum’ event in 2002.

During his Tantrum years, Mat honed his skill and began to develop his own personal style - an amalgamation of house and techno with a tendency for melody and quirk that is associated with the Leutwyler DJ sound. His constant quest for the perfect record inevitably led him to the production studio. Before long, Mat had played part in producing tracks that were getting recognition and floorplay by internationally touring DJs such as Chris Fortier, Randall Jones, Chab and Satoshi Tomiie.

In 2004 Mat joined forces with long time friend Ben Camp, to form BCML, Speedcats, Punktooth, and several other production monikers. The duo found immediate success, and were snapped up for an album deal by UK house label Silver Planet Recordings. The Camp & Leutwyler productions gained Mat additional press recognition, and started to show up in the dj sets of leading progressive icons such as Sasha, Nick Warren and John Digweed and in the more experimental sets of legends such as Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink and Sven Vath.

Mat’s latest productions have been featured on top mix compilations such as Global Underground and Cream, as well as on more underground compilations released exclusively in Japan and Holland. Mat’s current DJing career has seen him travel to Miami and Los Angeles in the United States and to clubs as far away as London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Positano and Athens in Europe as well as residencies in Mexico, where he now resides.
