Maintenance Crew featuring the McDonaldlize Society Trio are made up of Chantalism and Ubiquity, two emcee/producers, and a revolving ensemble of musicians who have developed a style of Hip-Hop characterized as unique, distinct, and organic. Maintenance Crew started with influences like A Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets, and Common. But, pushed their sound further to incorporate spoken word, the spirit of rock & roll and jazz. With two distinct, yet perfectly paired voices, Chantalism and Ubiquity trade lines and verses seamlessly with lyrics ranging from political and personal stories of Chicago life to more abstract beat poetry. The shows captivate their audience with a unique use of dynamics and mood shifts, which are driven by a natural energy. This incarnation of the group has been able to satisfy bills consisting of rock-pop, to indie Hip-Hop and everything in-between. Since 2003, they have self-released four albums, “Eternal Sunshine of the Simple Mind” and “Simple is the Way It's Spoken”, “Plain & Simple”, “The Collapse of a Mcdonaldlize Society”. These albums are selling in great number at Chicago’s most poplar music venues, and local and online record stores.
