Using pedals and looping machines, Time Columns stacks layers of precisely timed riffs on top of one another to build a dizzying sound. And the songs -- almost all instrumental -- pull you in unexpected directions.

The band combines elements of math rock, post-rock, progressive rock, and even hip-hop using laptops, guitars, synthesizers and live drums. The band draws on influences from Battles, Explosions in the Sky, Animal Collective, Animals as Leaders and Steve Reich.

Central to the group’s existence is the Gibson Echoplex and Ableton Live- digital loopers that allow keyboard and guitar lines to be recorded, played back and overdubbed on the fly. When used in a live setting, it gives the illusion of many performers playing at the same time and smashes what previous limits had been placed on the two-man band format.

Following successful national tours in promotion of their self-released EP, Sunriseinthesea, Time Columns spent a year and a half working with Emmy Award-winning sound engineer Harry Snodgrass on their full-length debut record titled "Mana". (http://timecolumns.bandcamp.com/album/mana)

With the release of their full-length, Time Columns has quickly become a tour de force in the underground world of indie post-rock music. After signing with European record labels Subsuburban and Oxide Tones, the band has garnered positive reviews around the world, toured with Italian heavyweights Valerian Swing and made their first appearance at the SXSW Festival in Austin, TX in 2012.
