La Brea is the brain child of twenty four year old Philadelphia based guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and photographer J.P. Singletary. The band’s sound is focused on using traditional organic instruments in tandem with electronically generated sounds to create lush, and richly textured soundscapes. Drawing on elements of experimental rock, classical, minimalism, metal, jazz, noise collage, and ambient music, La Brea crafts a sound that ungulates from the serenely meditative to the harrowingly dissonant, while remaining uncompromising and unique. The music is written by JP Singletary with contributions from Matt Buckley and Chrissie Loftus. La Brea is a project that takes full advantage of the studio's multi-tracking capabilities to create vast, epic pieces of sonic experimentation.
