Steady Lyrics

Feeling down in the dumps
Wondering how to take the next big jump
Don't know how to get over it
I think I need to sit before I have a bigger man
I just can't quit, going out of my mind
My God, I need to chill before I'm left behind
When you crack the sky I wanna be ready
Not stressing over this, Lord keep it steady

Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Lord keep me steady, I need You to keep me steady
Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Lord keep me steady, keep me steady
Keep me grounded

Oh, so brokenhearted and confused
Been hurt within the church, all beaten and bruised
don't wanna be alive
I just can't make it, oh Lord, give me strength
Help me make it
I'm contemplating, I'm running away
Caught up in the world I need the faith to pray
I choose today, I wanna be saved
Tired of playing games, Lord have your way

Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Keep me steady, I need You to keep me steady
Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Keep me steady, keep me steady
Keep me rooted and grounded

Just wanna be in Your will
Lord, keep me steady
Oh, God, oh God
I just wanna be steady
Like a tree planted by the rivers of water
Keep me steady, keep me steady
Don't move me,
Don't take Your hands off of me
Keep me steady, keep me steady

I wanna be grounded, wanna be grounded in You, God
Just wanna be steady, so much is going on
But I wanna be in Your will, wanna be in Your way
I wanna be steady, Oh yeah
Cover me,
I wanna be steadfast, I wanna be unmovable
Not easily broken no matter what comes my way
I wanna be steady, keep me in Your will God

Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Keep me steady, I need You to keep me steady
Like a tree, planted by the rivers of water
Keep me steady, keep me steady

Buffalo, NY native, Alexis Spight has skyrocketed in the past few months after being crowned the 1st runner up in BET’s highly successful reality television series, Sunday Best. The 19 year old “preacher’s kid” has wowed audiences nationwide with her vocal ability, distinctive style, signature red hair and transparent sincerity. The singer auditioned for the series in St.Louis with thousands of other hopefuls and almost did not complete the audition for fear of not measuring up. Spight admits, “When I got there I was discouraged because there were two or three thousand people ahead of me in line,” Even as she advanced round by round in the competition, she shares, “there were times I would call my mom and dad and say ‘I can’t do this, I don’t know what’s going to happen, everybody’s so talented…’” Still she pressed on and it’s clear to all that Spight had exactly what it took to go all the way. Spight made it to the culminating round with the final two out of over 15,000 competitors.
Spight was raised in the church where her father and current manager, Allen Spight was the pastor. Spight has been singing since the young age ofthree and sang with her mother, Michelle Spight and later traveled around the state of New York with her siblings as a singing group called the Spight Sisters. Her great-grandmother recalls how Spight sang from an early age, "she came up singing. Whenever she was in the house she would be singing all daylong. She would get up in the morning singing. I said I guess it pays off."

Spight has shared the stage with gospel grates such as John P Kee, Kierra Sheard, Kim Burrell, Mali Music and more. She is a singer/songwriter and serves as the praise and worship leader at her Kansas City church where shecurrently resides. Spight is prepping now for the debut release of her album on Music World Gospel. Spight has taken her place in the gospel music industry and has positioned herself as one to watch.
